“Does double glazing work?”, is a question we get asked, well, just about every day. And even though we’re in the double glazing business, you don’t need to take our word for it. The answer is a resounding, “yes”!
As well as offering excellent acoustic insulation, double glazing systems can also keep homes 40% cooler in summer, 32% warmer in winter, and increase thermal resistance by up to 94%. Given the looming energy crisis and rapidly increasing electricity prices, saving money on energy bills is a priority.
How does double glazing work?
Double glazing refers to a system of insulation whereby two panes of glass are fitted within a window sash. This creates an air gap in the middle. This sealed air gap reduces the transmission of heat and sound, acting as an additional layer of insulation. The greater the width of the air gap, together with the type of glass used, the better the insulation.
Advantages of double glazed windows
Are you deciding on double glazing for noise reduction, double glazing for sound proofing or to help control the thermal temperature of your home? For each problem, double glazing can provide the solution. Double glazing helps to reduce your energy bill by decreasing your need for air conditioners and/or heaters. It will also create a more sustainable home for the future.
Plus, there are additional benefits that come with the type of frame that you choose. Thermally broken aluminium windows and doors conduct heat, cold and noise 1000 times slower than standard aluminium. uPVC windows and doors are energy efficient, durable, and low maintenance.
But don’t take our word for it – here’s what some of our clients have said about the difference that double glazing has made to their homes:
“The double glazing doors far exceeded our expectations, the noise reduction is outstanding.”
